In memory of what would have been Brittany Murphy's 33rd birthday today, the late star's mom has announced that she'll be penning a bio about her daughter.

"This book will be my way of celebrating and honoring her extraordinary life and career," Sharon Murphy said in a statement sent to E! News. "Brittany was a kind, loving person who enjoyed each day, she was my life."

The actress, who starred in such films as Clueless, 8 Mile and Don't Say a Word, died last December after going into full cardiac arrest at her L.A. home. An autopsy later determined that a combination of pneumonia and prescription drugs were the cause.

"I am looking forward to everyone reading the accurate account about my daughter, her life, loves and career," Sharon added. "A portion of the proceeds that I receive from the book will be donated to charity."

The mother of the late actress Brittany Murphy (Clueless, 8 Mile) is ready to set the record straight with a biography of her daughter, according to E! News. Sharon Murphy (far left) announced her plan for the book on Nov. 10 — the day that would have been Brittany’s 33rd birthday if the actress hadn’t passed away last December from a combination of pneumonia and prescription drugs. The tragedy prompted a swirl of speculation about Brittany’s lifestyle, rumors that Sharon Murphy hopes to stamp out once and for all. “This book will be my way of celebrating and honoring her extraordinary life and career,” said Murphy, who promised to give part of the book’s proceeds to charity. “I am looking forward to everyone reading the accurate account about my daughter, her life, loves and career.”

Sharon Murphy’s goal is nothing if not noble; certainly someone ought to step up to the defense of her daughter after her reputation was savaged in the media frenzy surrounding her death. But a book like this will also invite a new wave of scrutiny. Would Brittany’s memory be better served by letting her legacy live on through her work rather than in a biography? I wish she had realized just in HOW much trouble Brittany was, a few days before, or on the night before, or even earlier in the morning of her death. How could she NOT notice? This is really disturbing to many people. :'(

And all the times fans have been to Brittany's gravesite... leaving flowers for her on her bday and in remembrance of the day she died. Most of the fans are far far away and had the flowers delivered to Britt's grave. It's very easy to make an order online or on the phone with Forest Lawn. Yet on neither occasion (at least not that we're aware of anyway.. please correct us if wrong) did the "close friends" we've read about, nor her family, leave flowers or stop by & visit. (aside from her father, who was left off her death certificate for some weird reason).

And why leave DAD off Britt's death certificate?! No matter WHAT the circumstances are or were, he is still her father. You can't argue with biology. For purposes of inclusion on someone's death certificate, the courts dont care what KIND of father he was.

*Why* was he left off??

So many things I dont understand, and it makes me very sad. To "guest" .. if you are connected with the Murphy side, I hope you or someone can address these. Would mean a great deal to many people. You have no idea.

I just hope they're arent lies. Really.. if one is going to write a book, please write the truth. I want to find this in the NONfiction section of my bookstore. Not "Fiction" or "Fantasy" section.

Looks like Brit's momma needs some money. It's one thing to leach of your kids when they're alive, and another thing entirely when they're dead. I mean, does anyone else think it's weird that Sharon didn't notice that Simon was isolating Brittany? Or did she have some part in his plots too?

Julia's allegations seem a little "out there" and I'm skeptical. But they are credible enough to deserve thorough investigation by competent journalists, which I doubt they are likely to receive. That's too bad. I will read this book if it is published, as I will also read anything from Sharon or the "other side."

I have lots of questions about Brittany's life, the decline of her career, and the circumstances of her death that I doubt will ever be answered. I prefer to reflect on her remarkable work. I have one big question which I would like to have answered: Why was the media coverage following her death so relentlessly negative, compared to that of other deceased stars such as Michael Jackson?
